Harry Earl Waidelich (Commander, USN/Ret)

Recently retired from the United States Navy after 23 years, Harry Waidelich has extensive experience with chemical and biological weapons and associated treaty implementation.

In recent years, Commander Waidelich has held several positions with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, On-Site Inspection Directorate, Chemical and Biological Division, including Deputy, Operations Officer and Arms Control Negotiator. In those capacities he has supported a division of over 100 personnel engaged in Chemical Weapons and Biological Treaty inspections, formulated strategy, developed equipment lists and selected qualified personnel to conduct WMD searches at overseas locations, and supervised and served as Host Team Leader on an eight-man team formed to negotiate and protect U.S. government positions with respect to the Chemical Weapons Convention. As Logistics Operations Director at Atlantic Fleet Headquarters, Norfolk, VA, he programmed movement of near and long-term logistics support by land, sea and air, to ships and organizations operating throughout the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas and the Persian Gulf. In addition, he coordinated with government and local agencies to expedite hurricane and disaster relief support to various Caribbean, South American and southeast United States locations.

Harry Waidelich received a B.S. degree from East Stroudsberg University and an MA degree in National Security Affairs and Strategic Studies at the Naval War College in Newport, R.I. He has also completed additional specialized military training in Chemical Weapons Convention, Treaty Escort Training, Hazardous Waste Operations (Demilitarization), Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Airlift Operations and CPR / First Aid.
