Jeff Hartman currently serves as the Homeland Security Coordinator for Erie County New York, with primary responsibility for planning, incident management and training. Mr. Hartman has a varied and extensive background. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Hartman served 19 years in progressively responsible positions with the Erie County Sheriff's Office in Buffalo, New York and has 25 years of combined experience in Law Enforcement, Hazardous Materials, WMD response, Firefighting and Emergency Medical Services.
Mr. Hartman brings over 15 years of instructional experience, specializing in Incident Management, Hazmat, WMD response and Counterterrorism and has trained police officers, firefighters, government officials and other responders across the United States and Canada. Mr. Hartman is certified by such agencies as the Erie County Dept. of Central Police Services, New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, New York State Commission of Correction, New York State Emergency Management Office, Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security Office of Domestic Preparedness, Center for Domestic Preparedness, Louisiana State University Academy for Counterterrorism Education, New Mexico Tech. University Energetic Materials Research & Testing Center and the Bechtel Nevada Counterterrorism Operations Support.
Mr. Hartman serves as a member of many planning groups and professional organizations including, the Erie County Local Emergency Planning Committee, Metropolitan Medical Response System Committee, Public Health Emergency Response Team, Western NY Public Health Alliance, Western NY Hazmat/WMD Task Force (Hazwest), International Joint Commission on Emergency Preparedness (US & Canada) and is a member of the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers.
