Bob retired from the United States Coast Guard after more than twenty years of service. Bob served onboard three ships while in the Coast Guard as well as a small boat coxswain conducting several thousand Maritime Law Enforcement boardings and several hundred Search and Rescue cases. All of his operational experience was conducted on the west coast of the United States serving in Alaska, Oregon, and California.
Bob was actively involved in leadership and management training throughout his career and was the Senior Leadership and Management instructor at the Coast Guard's Officer Candidate School for three years. In his last tour of duty for the Coast Guard, Bob was the Training Officer for the International Training Division of the Coast Guard and Director of all UNITAS operations for the Coast Guard.
The International Training Division traveled to more than 90 different countries around the world and Bob's role was to ensure all 60 plus members of the team were properly trained in international travel and personal safety abroad. As the UNITAS Director, he worked closely with the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Army, to conduct training in South and Central America. The primary focus of the training conducted was International Maritime Law, Maritime Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue, and Marine Environmental Protection.
Since his retirement in April of 2004, Bob has been working with Seebald & Associates as the primary instructor for the new MTSA requirements, focusing on 33 CFR 105. During this time, Bob has traveled extensively throughout the United States to included, Savannah Georgia, Cleveland Ohio, Honolulu Hawaii, New Orleans Louisiana, Detroit Michigan, Duluth Minnesota, Baltimore Maryland, Chicago Illinois, Boston Massachusetts, and Portland Maine.
